Человек со звезды прилетает на Землю с единственной целью: выяснить, что такое любовь. Он приземляется где-то в штате Висконсин и решает принять облик покойного мужа скромной вдовы Дженни Хайден. Он узнает от Дженни, что такое любовь, и ему уже не хочется возвращаться на корабль. Но его друзья-инопланетяне считают, что, оставшись, Человек со звезды погибнет. К тому же, странным воскрешением мужа Дженни интересуется полиция.
